Bad news for Damian Lillard

 In the midst of a busy season for the Portland Trail Blazers, the situation seems to be getting worse. With the team struggling to stay in the Play-In race in the Western Conference, the chances of Damian Lillard playing a game again this season also appear to be close to nil. this has been a great season for his career, averaging 32.2 points, 7.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game, Lillard has been dealing with a nagging right calf injury all season long. The ailment has forced the shooting guard to miss a total of 12 games from November through December of last year, and now it looks like he could sit out again for the remainder of the season. This Saturday, March 25, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Trail Blazers “are leaning toward sitting Damian Lillard for the final 9 games of the season.”

The franchise would be seriously considering taking precautions with its star, in light of the fact that the team is already out of the Playoff race. This decision would have significant implications for the team and for Lillard in particular. With only nine games remaining in the season, every game is important for the Blazers as they look to stay in contention for a Play-In spot. Without their leader on the court, the team could struggle to stay afloat.

For his part, Lillard could miss an opportunity to continue his impressive season and continue to add points to his personal record. Furthermore, a lingering injury could have negative effects on his long-term future, and the Blazers understandably want to be cautious with their star. For now, we can only wait and see if Lillard will return to the court at some point in the final nine games of the season. What is clear is that Portland needs to find a way to overcome their struggles and stay in the Play-In race, even without their leader on the court.
