Amazing news for sports fanatics

Amazing news for sports fanatics, the sports merchandise distribution giant, has announced that it has reached an agreement with the NHL to be its technical sponsor for the next ten years, through 2034! Yes, you read that right, 2034 is a long-term business relationship.

Although the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, Adidas, the NHL’s current partner, is rumored to be paying $70 million per year. A large amount of money, but wait, there’s more. The contract with Fanatics won’t begin until the 2024–2025 season when the deal with Adidas ends.

Both parties had given up on extending the contract, which had been in place since 2005. Reebok took over in 2005 and was purchased by Adidas in 2017–2018, replacing the Massachusetts firm with its own brand.

So, after nearly 20 years, the NHL is making a major change! According to Michael Rubin, founder, and CEO of Fanatics, this is a pivotal moment in the company’s history and a testament to the collaborative relationships they have woven with the NHL over the years. Since 2018, Fanatics has been producing training and performance textile lines and helmets for players and coaches. It took it over after buying Majestic, which handled that business for the NHL and other competitions.

Most incredible of all, the uniforms will be produced in Canada, in the same factory that has made the league’s kits for the past 30 years. Fanatics has 90 million consumers worldwide and already serves more than 80 ice hockey clubs in the U.S. and other countries. Crazy! Meanwhile, Adidas holds the MLS contract, while Nike has the NFL, NBA, and MLB.

The sports apparel market continues to be competitive and fierce, hopefully, the biggest beneficiaries will be consumers and fans.
